FX has renewed its John Singleton co-created crime drama “Snowfall” for a sixth and final season continuing the story set in Los Angeles during the crack cocaine epidemic of the 1980s. M. Son of the Century
Sky is set to adapt Antonio Scurati’s book “M. Son of the Century,” about the rise to power of Benito Mussolini, into a TV series. Stefano Bises (“Gomorrah”) is attached to write with filming set to start in 2023.

The show will cover Mussolini’s story from the founding of Fasci Italiani in 1919 to the infamous speech in parliament following the murder of socialist MP Giacomo Matteotti in 1925. [Source: Deadline]

Matilda
Netflix is reportedly developing an animated series sequel to Roald Dahl’s “Matilda,” with filmmaker Ava DuVernay attached to executive produce. The show reportedly hired an unnamed white female showrunner but has since parted ways with her and a new overseer is being sought.

The series reportedly follows a “grown-up Matilda and an 8-year-old, gifted Black girl who travel the world, ‘X-Men’ style, and recruit other special kids for their boarding school.” [Source: Puck News]

Bridgerton
The second season of Netflix’s period drama “Bridgerton” has broken the record for the most-viewed show in a week among Netflix’s English TV series. The series pulled in 251.74 million hours viewed for its first full week on the streaming service.

That easily beats the previous record-holder “Inventing Anna” with 196 million hours viewed. “Squid Game” still easily holds the overall record for the most-viewed show on Netflix in general across a seven-day period with 571.76 million hours viewed. [Source: Variety]
