Jason Momoa is staying in the Apple TV+ business, the “Aquaman” star is set to lead, write and executive produce the series “Chief of War” for Apple, Endeavor Content and Chernin Entertainment.
Handed a straight-to-series order by Apple, the eight-episode limited series follows the epic, unprecedented telling of the unification and colonization of Hawaii – all from an indigenous point of view.
Momoa and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett executive produce with Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Erik Holmberg, and Doug Jung. Jung serves as showrunner, while Justin Chon is in talks to direct the first two episodes.
This marks the first project Momoa has written for television. Momoa currently stars in Apple TV+ post-apocalyptic drama series “See” which has already been renewed for a third season.
