Lionsgate has sold the U.S. domestic rights to Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel’s romantic action comedy “Shotgun Wedding” to Amazon Prime.
The streamer picked up the international streaming rights to the Jason Moore-helmed film in several territories earlier and is now adding the domestic rights for the movie which Lionsgate initially intended for a wide theatrical release.
The movie made headlines a year ago when original lead Armie Hammer exited amidst controversy and Josh Duhamel was brought in to replace him ahead of the film’s shoot in the Dominican Republic.
The story portrays a couple that gathers their families for a destination wedding even as they get cold feet. The nuptials gone wrong sees everyone’s lives put in danger when the entire wedding party is taken hostage.
Jennifer Coolidge, Sonia Braga, Cheech Marin, Selena Tan, Callie Hernandez and Lenny Kravitz also star in the film which was originally slated for a June 29th theatrical run. Its new date via Amazon has yet to be announced.
