Bad Wolf Productions (“His Dark Materials,” “Da Vinci’s Demons”) has set up its first major series since being acquired by Sony Pictures Television. The company will adapt “The Winter King,” the first novel in Bernard Cornwell’s “Warlord Chronicles” trilogy, into a ten-part series.
The books are a revisionist take on the Arthurian legends and follows Arthur Pendragon as he evolves from outcast son to legendary warrior and leader in 5th century Britain.
Kate Brooke and Ed Whitmoreare adapting with Otto Bathurst directing and filming will take place in Wales and the West Country later this year with One Big Picture also producing.
The news comes as Bad Wolf has just hired former “Doctor Who” star Billie Piper to lead a series adaptation of “Coming Undone” based on the memoir of former Empire film magazine editor-in-chief Terri White. The book chronicles the conflict between her outward success and private trauma that spiralled into a mental health crisis.
