Oscar-nominated “West Side Story” star Ariana DeBose will join the “Kraven the Hunter” movie at Marvel and Sony Pictures.
The actress, hot off her win at the SAG awards this past weekend, is rumored to be playing Calypso – a voodoo priestess who utilizes magic potions and is the occasional partner and lover of Kraven.
Aaron Taylor Johnson will play Kraven who is a famed Spider-Man villain and Russian big-game hunter character in Marvel lore and the film is said to feature his family members as major characters.
DeBose joins a cast that also includes Fred Hechinger as Chameleon and Russell Crowe.
J.C. Chandor is directing the pic with Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach producing. Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk penned the screenplay. The film will be released theatrically on January 13th 2023.
