Michael Douglas will star as U.S. Founding Father Benjamin Franklin in a new and currently untitled limited series for the Apple TV+ service.
The series is based on Pulitzer Prize winner Stacy Schiff’s novel “A Great Improvisation” and deals with an elderly Franklin as he engineered the Franco-American alliance of 1778 during the American Revolutionary War.
Kirk Ellis (HBO’s “John Adams”) will write the show for Apple and serve as an executive producer. Tim Van Patten will direct while Douglas, Tony Krantz and Richard Plepler executive produce.
