“The Maze Runner” helmer Wes Ball is attached to direct the film adaptation of Valiant Comics title “Harbinger” at Paramount Pictures.
The comic follows a group of teens with superpowers who go up against the corporation that tried to exploit their talents.
Andrew Lanham(“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”) is penning the script while Ball, Joe Hartwick Jr., Toby Jaffe and Neal Moritz will produce.
That’s not the only director news today. Shawn Levy (“Free Guy”) is attached to direct “Backwards” which Netflix has just secured the rights for. Levy, Dan Cohen, Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell will produce.
Based on Julianna Baggott and Finneas Scott’s short story, the tale follows a dying father who chooses a method to extend his life that involves reverse aging. His estranged daughter is appointed to be his caretaker and along the way, an emotional catharsis is reached.
Finally, New Line has acquired “Tigers Are Not Afraid” filmmaker Issa Lopez’s original screenplay “The Girl with a Thousand Names” which she will direct and produce for HBO Max.
The fantastically real story follows a child from another world, trapped in our broken reality… without documents, in a detention center for minors separated from their families at the U.S. border. Guillermo del Toro, Noah Hawley and Jason Blum produce.
