Josh Duhamel has joined the cast of the Disney+ series “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers,” the sequel to the popular ice hokey film franchise.
Duhamel will portray Gavin Cole, a former NHL player-turned-coach who is described as inspirational, charming and hardcore as he is big on the hockey metaphor that applies to life.
In the series, he runs a super-intense summer hockey institute where the Mighty Ducks land in the second season.
Duhamel effectively fills a void left by the departure of Emilio Estevez’s Gordon Bombay who left the series in November following a contract dispute and ‘creative differences’. First season stars Lauren Graham and Brady Noon are returning though.
Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith return as showrunners for season two and co-created the series alongside Steven Brill.
