Cesar-winning French actor Gaspard Ulliel has died following a serious ski accident in the Alps.

According to the AFP, the 37-year-old actor was hospitalised Tuesday after a collision on the slopes in the Savoie region and has not survived his injuries.

Ulliel first appeared in French films like Christophe Gans’ “Brotherhood of the Wolf,” Andre Techine’s “Strayed” and Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s “A Very Long Engagement”.

He broke through internationally playing a young Hannibal Lecter in the prequel film “Hannibal Rising,” but otherwise he’s stuck close to home with leading roles in French films like “Saint Laurent” and Xavier Dolan’s “It’s Only the End of the World” and voicing Jack Frost for the French dub of “Rise of the Guardians”.

Most recently he filmed a role as Midnight Man in the upcoming Marvel “Moon Knight” series for the Disney+ service. The news follows in the wake of another French acting icon, “Le Petit Soldat” leading man Michel Subor, dying on Monday in a French hospital following a car accident.
