Actor Don Cheadle has set up two new series about Black historical figures and events which he will executive produce.
First, AMC is developing a series adaptation of Wesley Lowery’s 2016 non-fiction work “They Can’t Kill Us All”. Lowery conducted hundreds of interviews for the work over the course of the year.
The book, and presumably the series, looks at the Black Lives Matter movement from its beginnings in Ferguson, MO in 2014 after the killing of Michael Brown.
Also, Cheadle is teaming with Steven Soderbergh on the HBO Max drama series “The Other Hamilton” which is based on Shane White’s book “Prince of Darkness”.
That series will tell the true story of 19th-century Haitian immigrant turned Wall Street tycoon Jeremiah Hamilton who made millions using often illegal methods.
Karyn Smith-Forge, Carlos Foglia, Steven Baigelman, Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman, Ashley Nicole Black and Keith Josef Adkins also executive produce.
