FX has handed out a series order for a TV adaptation of Octavia E. Butler’s Hugo Award-winning 1979 novel “Kindred”. Branden Jacobs-Jenkins (“Watchmen”) serves as writer and showrunner.
The story follows a young Black woman and aspiring writer in Los Angeles who finds herself pulled back and forth in time to a 19th-century plantation that has a link to her family’s past.
Mallori Johnson, Micah Stock, Ryan Kwanten, Gayle Rankin, Austin Smith, Antoinette Crowe-Legacy and David Alexander Kaplan star in the already shot pilot for the series.
