Cate Blanchett, currently starring in “Nightmare Alley” in cinemas and “Don’t Look Up” on Netflix, has signed on to star in Pedro Almodovar’s first English-language feature “A Manual for Cleaning Women”.
The project is an adaptation of Lucia Berlin’s short story collection of the same name which offers 43 stories about women in multiple types of demanding jobs.
Almodovar, coming off the Penelope Cruse-led “Parallel Mothers,” penned the script in Spanish before translating it to English.
Blanchett’s Dirty Films will produce for New Republic Pictures with Blanchett herself, Almodovar, Brian Oliver, Bradley Fischer, Andrew Upton and Coco Francini producing.
