Apple is reportedly in exclusive negotiations to acquire an untitled racing drama pitch that will see Brad Pitt starring for the team behind “Top Gun: Maverick” – namely director Joseph Kosinski, writer Ehren Kruger and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

In the film, Pitt will play a retired racing legend who mentors a younger driver and takes his final stab at glory on the track as the younger driver’s teammate. British Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton is involved but Formula One racing itself is not officially involved yet.

The package is reportedly in the price range of around $140 million, and that’s before above-the-line compensation. Pitt and Kosinski previously tried to make the racing movie “Go Like Hell” which would have seen Pitt play Carroll Shelby.

It marks the second major Pitt project Apple has snatched up, the other being an untitled one that sees him re-team with George Clooney and director Jon Watts (“Spider-Man: No Way Home”) as two lone wolf ‘fixers’ assigned to the same job.

Apple looks to have beat out six major suitors who were also vying the project – namely Paramount, MGM, Sony, Universal, Netflix and Amazon.
