“NCIS” and “That 70s Show” star Wilmer Valderrama is attached to both lead and executive produce a live-action “Zorro” series in the works at Disney Branded Television.
Valderrama would star as Don Diego de la Vega and his swashbuckling alter ego, the masked horseman known as Zorro, in the days of Spanish California. The series is said to serve as a reimagining of the 1950s Disney-ABC series starring Guy Williams.
Though a period piece set in Pueblo de Los Angeles, the series will unfold with “a very modern telenovela style – with richly drawn contemporary characters and relationships set against the action, drama, suspense and humor of the original” according to Disney exec Ayo Davis.
Gary Marsh and John Gertz will executive produce.
