Filmmaker Ridley Scott has confirmed that the two in-development live-action TV series based on his films “Alien” and “Blade Runner” are moving forward – and fast.

Speaking with the BBC on Monday to promote his new “House of Gucci” film, Scott says “Blade Runner” is targeting around ten hour-long episodes:

“We [have already] written the pilot for ‘Blade Runner’ and the bible. So, we’re already presenting ‘Blade Runner’ as a TV show, the first 10 hours.”

This marks the first time Scott has commented on a “Blade Runner” series. As for “Alien,” which is set up at FX and has Noah Hawley attached as showrunner, Scott says it’s getting a similar treatment to the “Blade Runner” series with a pilot and bible being written for a series that runs for around eight-to-ten hours.

When first announced late last year, FX’s boss described the project as “the first ‘Alien’’story set on Earth”.

Scott’s next film is the Napoleon Bonaparte biopic “Kitbag” starring Joaquin Phoenix and Jodie Comer. That film will begin production on January 15th.
