Hello Tomorrow
Jacki Weaver has joined the cast of the dramedy series “Hello Tomorrow” on the Apple TV+ service. Set in a retro-future world, this follows a group of travelling salesmen selling lunar timeshares.

Billy Crudup leads the cast with Weaver playing his caustic and manipulative mother. Hank Azaria, Haneefah Wood, Alison Pill, Nick Podany and Dewshane Williams also star while Amit Bhalla and Lucas Jansen serve as showrunners. [Source: Variety]

The Defender
Searchlight Pictures has acquired the script rights to the George Tillman Jr.-directed real-life drama “The Defender” with Sterling K. Brown attached to star as American defense lawyer and activist Scipio Africanus Jones.

After the Elaine, Arkansas race riot and massacre of 1919, Jones risked his life and career to defend 87 men wrongfully accused of murder. E. Nicholas Mariani penned the Black List script while Brown, Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen will produce. [Source: THR]

The Watcher
Jennifer Coolidge will join Bobby Cannavale and Naomi Watts in Ryan Murphy’s new Netflix limited series “The Watcher”. Filming on the series is currently underway.

The series follows a married couple whose move into their dream home is being threatened by terrifying letters from a stalker, signed ‘The Watcher’ and is based on an infamous over century old Dutch colonial revival home in New Jersey. [Source: Deadline]

Susie Searches
“Pig” and “Hereditary” actor Alex Wolff has signed on to star opposite Kiersey Clemons in Sophie Kargman’s thriller “Susie Searches” based on the 2020 short of the same name. Kargman wrote the script with William Day Frank.”>Deadline]

The darkly comic thriller follows an awkward college student (Clemons) who seizes the opportunity to bolster her popularity – and her overlooked true-crime podcast – by solving the disappearance of a charismatic college classmate (Wolff) with a complicated private life. [Source: Deadline]

There’s Something Wrong With the Children
Zach Gilford, Amanda Crew, Alisha Wainwright and Carlos Santos will star in “Body At Brighton Rock” filmmaker Roxanne Benjamin’s new horror feature “There’s Something Wrong With the Children” for Blumhouse Television and Epix.

Benjamin directs from a script by T.J. Cimfel & David White. The story follows two couples, one with kids, who go on a weekend trip. The kids soon begin to behave strangely after temporarily disappearing into the woods overnight. Filming is underway in New Orleans. [Source: Variety]
