Disney has announced that its Disney+ streaming service is set to release the ‘IMAX enhanced’ versions of thirteen Marvel films on its service this Friday November 12th.

The new versions offer an expanded aspect ratio of 1:90:1 that will allow for more action to be seen on screen. This includes “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” which makes its debut on the service that day.

Also experiencing the expanded ratio is “Iron Man,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” “Captain America: Civil War,” “Doctor Strange,” “Thor: Ragnarok,” “Black Panther,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Ant-Man and The Wasp,” “Captain Marvel,” “Avengers: Endgame” and “Black Widow”.

The partnership between IMAX and Disney is not exclusive and so other services could soon incorporate ‘IMAX Enhanced’ versions on their own platforms.

At present, no other films on Disney+ or the likes of Hulu or Star will get the new versions. Disney will monitor reactions to the Marvel rollout to determine whether to proceed with more.
