A24 has premiered the trailer for Warwick Thornton’s “The Beach” which they’re dubbing an “infinity-looping experience” as you follow the celebrated Australian filmmaker of the likes of “Samson and Delilah” and “Sweet Country” on a beach doing everyday tasks.
The project originally aired as a six-part 25-minutes each docoseries on SBS Australia last year, an entry in the increasingly successful genre of ‘slow TV’ which is mostly observational and contemplative with little to no narrative.
In “The Beach,” Thornton has reached a crossroad in his life and decides to go it alone (with three chickens, a dog, and a mud crab) on an isolated beach in one of the most beautiful yet brutal environments in the world in an effort to heal.
From the sounds of it, the series has been recut into essentially a single piece that will be played on loop A24’s Screening Room from November 22nd-28th.
