Remedy Entertainment have announced that they have no plans to release a remastered version of “Alan Wake’s American Nightmare”.
A remaster of the original 2010 “Alan Wake” game came out earlier this month to very good reviews leading to the inevitable question of whether the less well-regarded and less well-known 2012 smaller scale spin-off would get the same treatment.
Communications Director Thomas Puha spoke with VideoGamesChronicle about the possibility, shooting down the idea pretty clearly:
“There’s no plans currently. For this remaster it was really ‘okay, it’s the original game and the two DLC story episodes’ and that just makes for a sensible Alan Wake experience and package, and that’s how we approached it. So no, no plans for American Nightmare at all.”
The shorter expansion title (clocking in at about 3 hours to complete compared with the original’s 11-12 hours), added combat-focused modes and continued the story which set Alan against his nemesis Mr. Scratch.
However, and as “Control” revealed in its DLC, American Nightmare’s story is essentially an illusion and Wake is still trapped in the dark place. Remedy has long been rumored to be working on a proper “Alan Wake” sequel but have yet to announce one.
