Vin Diesel has given a brief update on a potential fourth film in the “Riddick” franchise.
The actor posted a photo of himself from the third film and included the caption: “Incredible meeting today, thanks team you know who you are… Let’s just say Furia may be closer than you think. #Riddick”.
Both Diesel and the franchise’s writer/director David Twohy have been quietly working on a new entry in the franchise for several years. The pair struggled to pull together the $38 million budget for the third film which went on to gross $98.3 million at the box-office and a further $23 million on home video.
Diesel revealed back in June during “F9” promotional rounds that Twohy had already written the script and plans were to shoot in Australia sometime in the near future. The film will likely see Diesel’s Riddick finally return to his home planet.
Diesel has the films “Muscle” and “Rock ‘Em Sock “Em Robots” in development while filming on the two-part “Fast 10” production is expected to take place throughout much of 2022.
