“The Witcher” and “SAS: Rogue Heroes” actor Donal Finn has been set to replace Barney Harris in the role of Mat Cauthon in Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television’s high-profile series “The Wheel of Time”.
The epic fantasy drama unfolds in a world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it. Moiraine (Pike), a member of the powerful all-female Aes Sedai, arrives in the small town of Two Rivers and begins a world-spanning journey with five young men and women who will either save or destroy humanity.
Why the recasting was done is unclear. Mat Cauthon is one of the five from the Two Rivers who, along with Pike’s Moiraine, are considered the main characters in the books.
The show recently began production of its second season in the Czech Republic while the first season is set to premiere November 19th on Amazon Prime Video.
