Shore To Compose Amazons Rings Series

Howard Shore is returning to Middle Earth.

Shore is the famed Oscar-winning composer of films such as “The Silence of the Lambs” and plenty of Martin Scorsese and David Cronenberg’s filmographies. He also created the iconic scores of both Peter Jackson’s original “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy and his “The Hobbit” trilogy follow-up.

Now, Deadline reports that Shore is in talks to compose the music for Amazon’s planned mega-budget TV series based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s works. This is despite neither Jackson nor the original cast members of any of the films returning.

The so-far untitled series recently wrapped principal photography on its first season which isn’t expected to air until September next year on Amazon Prime.

J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay serve as showrunners on the epic drama set in the Second Age of Middle-earth – thousands of years before the events of Jackson’s trilogies.
