Celebrated animation studio LAIKA has announced “Wildwood” as its sixth stop-motion and CG hybrid animated feature film.

An adaptation of the novel by The Decemberists singer Colin Meloy, the Portland-set story that follows Prue McKeel who enters an enchanted wonderland when her baby brother Mac is taken by a murder of crows into the forest’s depths.

The film boasts two of the studio’s best talents with “ParaNorman” writer Chris Butler penning the script while celebrated “Kubo and the Two Strings” helmer Travis Knight will direct.

Celebrated cinematographer Caleb Deschanel serves as director of photography on the project which is already in production. Arianne Sutner is producing.

LAIKA also produced “Coraline,” “The Boxtrolls” and “Missing Link”. All five of their features to date have been Oscar nominated for best animated feature.
