Filmmaker James Gunn has shot down recent rumors that Bane would be appearing in the upcoming John Cena-led “Peacemaker” series on HBO Max.

Gunn says he loves Bane and isn’t opposed to seeing Peacekeeper “getting his ass kicked” but straight up says the original scoop, originating from an unknown site dubbed ‘Movie Scope’, is incorrect.

When someone dismissed his rebuttal saying “we’ll see,” Gunn responded: “Stop. I’ve never lied to the fans about this stuff and I never will.”

Then YouTuber Grace Randolph weighed in explaining what her sources told her: “Bane is not TECHNICALLY in Peacemaker as he shows up for one scene at the very end, he literally has – I believe – one line. It’s a second season tease.”

Gunn shot her report down, saying: “That would, by my definition, mean he was technically in the show. He does not show up at the end or anywhere and has zero lines.”

The eight-episode first season of the series, a spin-off of Gunn’s recent “The Suicide Squad” film, is expected to make its debut in January 2022.

Meanwhile “The Suicide Squad” will be hitting Digital HD and PVOD on September 17th followed by an October 26th regular VOD and physical disc release. Gunn has recorded a commentary for the disc which also has a gag reel and plenty of deleted and extended scenes.
