Sony Rebranding SPUMC As SSU

Sony Rebranding Spumc As Ssu
Sony Pictures

For a little while now, Sony Pictures has been using the moniker “Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters” (SPUMC) for the various Marvel films under its purview like “Venom” and the upcoming “Morbius”.

Well, now that name is getting a refresh with the company now shortening it to the new name of “Sony’s Spider-Man Universe” (SSU).

The first picture officially under the new banner will be “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” arriving on October 15th followed by “Morbius” on January 28th 2022.

Sony’s current contract with Marvel Studios only includes “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and one MCU film to be named at a later date, though that could be renewed. Sony presently retains the cinematic rights to Spider-Man and all his affiliated characters.
