PS5
Following last week’s news of the PS5’s internal M.2 SSD slot being switched on in the beta, five M.2 SSD drives (with required heatsinks) have been tested and seem to be compatible with the tech (which requires read speeds of 5.5Gbps as a minimum).
Seagate Firecuda 530, AORUS Gen4 7000s, Samsung 980 Pro, Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus and WD SN850 Black make the list, the WD being the favourite of Sony’s Mark Cerny. Testing has also revealed games on the drive will load as fast, if not faster, than the PS5’s regular internal SSD. [Source: Digital Foundry]
