Paramount+ has announced production has officially begun on their limited event series “The Offer”.
The ten-episode event series deals with the behind-the-scene stories of Oscar-winning producer Albert S. Ruddy (played by Miles Teller) and will explore never-revealed stories behind the making of “The Godfather”.
Also onboard are Matthew Goode as Robert Evans, Dan Fogler as Francis Ford Coppola, Burn Gorman as Charles Bluhdorn, Colin Hanks as Barry Lapidus, Giovanni Ribisi as Joe Colombo, Justin Chambers as Marlon Brando, and Juno Temple as Bettye McCartt.
Nikki Toscano serves as showrunner, penning and executive producing the series which hails from Emmy-nominated writer Michael Tolkin (“The Player”). Dexter Fletcher (“Rocketman”) directs several of the episodes of the series.
The project is separate from Barry Levinson’s upcoming film “Francis and the Godfather” which is more focused on the Coppola/Evans relationship during the film’s making – something that has been discussed before by Evans himself in the acclaimed documentary “The Kid Stays in the Picture”.
Levinson’s project stars Oscar Isaac as Coppola, Jake Gyllenhaal as Evans, and Elisabeth Moss as Eleanor Coppola. That film is in pre-production. Neither the series nor film have a release date as yet.
