Maori actor/director James Ashcroft has signed on to direct the film adaptation of “World War Z author Max Brooks’ Bigfoot horror novel “Devolution” for Legendary.
The story sees a tech-focused, ‘green’ community in the deep forests of Washington State that is left isolated by a natural disaster.
The social structure rapidly disintegrates as the members contend first with being cut off from the modern world and then with a pack of mysterious predators who turn out to be Sasquatches.
Ashcroft, whose horror film “Coming Home in the Dark” premiered at Sundance this year to great acclaim and a quick Netflix acquisition, will also polish the script with his writing partner Eli Kent.
