New cast members for the third and final season of BAFTA-winning BBC and HBO co-production “His Dark Materials” have been announced, the news arriving just a few weeks after filming on the new season kicked off at Wolf Studios Wales in the UK.
Based on “The Amber Spyglass,” the final novel in Philip Pullman’s trilogy, the new run will see Will (Amir Wilson), the bearer of The Subtle Knife and Lyra (Dafne Keen), the prophesied child, travel through multiple worlds to find and protect each other.
The new cast includes Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Commander Ogunwe, Jamie Ward as Father Gomez and Amber Fitzgerald-Woolfe as Ama. In addition, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Simon Harrison, and Chipo Chung are the rebel angels Balthamos, Baruch and Xaphania respectively.
They join returning cast such as Will Keen as Father President MacPhail, Jade Anouka as Ruta Skadi and Ruta Gedmintas as Serafina Pekkala. Amit Gupta will lead as director of the opening two episodes to be followed by Charles Martin and Weronika Tofilska.
