Matthew Goode (“A Discovery of Witches,” “A Single Man”) has been cast as iconic film producer and former Paramount Pictures chief Robert Evans in the limited event series “The Offer” on the Paramount+ streaming service.

The story is based on the experience of Oscar-winning producer Albert S. Ruddy and deals with the tumultuous behind-the-scenes events of the original 1972 feature “The Godfather”.

Miles Teller was recently cast as Ruddy in the series, replacing Armie Hammer who exited in January in the wake of sexual abuse allegations against him.

The ten-episode series is written and executive produced by Nikki Toscano who serves as showrunner, alongside creator and writer Michael Tolkin.

The project is not to be confused with Barry Levinson’s “Francis and the Godfather,” a new film about the making of the classic film which has Oscar Isaac starring as Francis Ford Coppola and Jake Gyllenhaal in the Evans role.
