“Parasite” filmmaker Bong Joon-ho has announced that he will direct a Korean animated film about humans and deep-sea creatures.
The script, which he’s been developing since 2018 with his “Snowpiercer” and “Mother” creative collaborators at Korea’s 4th Creative Party, was completed in January.
He is also at work on the script for an English-language film which will be set in both the U.K. and the U.S. and is likely his next directing effort before this aquatic creature feature.
Bong is set as president of the jury at this year’s Venice Film Festival in late August and early September, is executive producing a “Parasite”-inspired series at HBO, and has been set as a producer on “Calibre” director Matt Palmer’s immigration drama “Sea Fog” (based on 2014 Korean feature”Haemoo”).
