J.K. Simmons will co-star with Sissy Spacek in Amazon Studios and Legendary Television’s genre-bending drama series “Lightyears”.
The pair play a couple who years ago discovered a chamber buried in their backyard that inexplicably leads to a deserted planet. They’ve carefully guarded their secret until an enigmatic young man enters their lives and their existence is quickly upended.
Simmons replaces Ed O’Neill who has exited for family reasons. Daniel C. Connolly serves as showrunner while Holden Miller pens and executive produces the series. José Campanella will direct and executive produce the first two episodes. Filming begins later this year.
