Apple TV+ has set a July 16th premiere date for “Schmigadoon!,” a parody of iconic Golden Age musicals starring Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key.
The pair play backpackers on a trip to reignite their failing relationship who come upon a magical town perpetually stuck in a 1940s musical – a town they can’t leave without finding ‘true love’.
Alan Cumming, Kristin Chenoweth, Aaron Tveit, Jane Krakowski, Fred Armisen, Martin Short, Dove Cameron, Ariana DeBose, Jaime Camil, and Ann Harada co-star in the series.
Lorne Michaels and Barry Sonnenfeld executive produce with Sonnenfeld directing. Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio (“Hop,” “Despicable Me”) created the series with Paul penning the songs.
The first two episodes will premiere on July 16th with further episodes unrolling weekly afterwards.
