Doing early press for Guy Ritchie’s armored truck crime thriller “Wrath of Man,”actor Jason Statham has confirmed he will be back for the sequel to the giant shark feature “The Meg”.
Speaking with Collider, Statham says that the studio is planning to start filming the project early next year and can’t wait to finally get to work with the film’s director Ben Wheatley:
“We’re gonna start shooting in January if I get my dates right. Ben Wheatley is the director. I’m very excited to work with him.
I’m thrilled to get going. Its been a while. We’ve been waiting around for the right scripts to come in and the right director to turn up, and we’ve got all those things, and they’re all stacked up now.
[Wheatley’s] great. We have a great shorthand already. We’ve got similar taste. I like his movies. I think he’s a brilliant director. I think we’ve got a good shot at making something good.”
Statham is currently in production on another film with Guy Ritchie, this one a spy thriller that also stars his ‘Wrath’ co-star Josh Hartnett.
2018’s “The Meg,” which sees a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark that was previously thought to be extinct re-emerge, hauled in a worldwide gross of over $530 million.
