Heavy Metal Plans New Film Tv Projects
Sony Pictures

Sci-fi and fantasy publication Heavy Metal magazine is teaming with management and brand development firm Range Media Partners to bringing their properties and titles into the film and television arena.

“Heavy Metal” launched in 1977 with science fiction and fantasy stories that brought adult-oriented fare to the comic book space, unrestricted in its violence and erotica, and giving European and overlooked American graphic storytellers a space on the shelf including Moebius, Guido Crepax and Milo Manara.

The pair will co-produce projects with Tommy Coriale, the former head of DIGA Studios who did MTV’s “Teen Wolf” and “Scream” series, to launch its film and television division.

The aim is for Coriale to develop a slate that can include scripted, unscripted, podcasting and publishing projects.
