Stephen Graham (“Line of Duty,” “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”) and Andrea Riseborough (“Oblivion,” “Possessor”) will play Mr. & Mrs. Wormwood, the parents of the title character in Netflix and Tristar’s musical feature adaptation of “Matilda”.
Indian comedian Sindhu Vee has also been cast to play Mrs. Phelps the librarian with the three actors joining Alisha Weir as Matilda, Emma Thompson as cruel headmistress Miss Trunchbull, and Lashana Lynch as the kindly Miss Honey.
Matthew Warchus helms the project which is based on the Tony and Olivier award-winning musical that itself is based on Roald Dahl’s classic children’s story. Dennis Kelly adapted the script while Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Jon Finn, and Luke Kelly produce.
Netflix will distribute worldwide except in the U.K. where TriStar Pictures will release it theatrically.
