Vera Farmiga (“The Conjuring,” “Source Code”) will star in the lead role in Apple’s limited series “Five Days at Memorial” based on Pulitzer Prize winner Sheri Fink’s nonfiction book.
The limited series chronicles a New Orleans hospital in the five days after Hurricane Katrina made landfall. Amid rising flood waters, stifling heat and failing power, exhausted caregivers were forced to make life-and-death decisions that would haunt them in the years to come.
Farmiga will play a physician at the hospital named Dr. Anna Pou. The actress, who will be seen later this year in the third “The Conjuring” film, is currently shooting Marvel Studios’ “Hawkeye” TV series with Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld.
Farmiga’s “Bates Motel” showrunner Carlton Cuse is writing and executive producing alongside “12 Years A Slave” scribe and “American Crime” producer John Ridley for ABC Signature.
