Trailer: Depp, Whitaker In “City of Lies”

Having sat on a shelf since late 2018, the Johnny Depp-led police corruption thriller “City of Lies” is finally coming out it seems with a new trailer has just gone online ahead of a limited cinema and VOD release on March 19th.

Global Road Entertainment famously pulled the film from release a month or so out from its planned original debut on September 7th 2018. At the time it was thought to be due to the negative backlash surrounding Depp, though it later turned out to be due to economic woes.

Brad Furman’s film adaptation of Randall Sullivan’s non-fiction book of the same name explores the police case and later the private investigations of the unsolved murder of Christopher Wallace (aka rapper The Notorious B.I.G.) by the detective in charge Russell Poole (Depp). Forest Whitaker plays a reporter who came onboard nearly two decades later to help.
