Orwo Studios and Black Hanger Studios have acquired rights to the controversial 1984 slasher film “Silent Night, Deadly Night” with plans to remake it.
The original followed a child who is traumatized after seeing his parents killed by a man dressed as Santa Claus. Years later, he dons a Santa suit himself and gets bloody revenge.
It was among the more controversial films of the 1980s with its graphic violence and killer Santa-themed marketing, but was successful enough to spawn sequels and a remake in 2012.
Original producers Scott Schneid and Dennis Whitehead are also onboard the planned 2022 release.
