Spike Lee has been set to produce the period action feature “Gordon Hemingway & the Realm of Cthulhu” for Netflix. Stefon Bristol (“See You Yesterday”) will direct the project based on an original screenplay by Hank Woon and Fredrica Bailey.
Set in East Africa in 1928 the story follows roguish Black American gunslinger Gordon Hemingway who teams up with the elite warrior Princess Zenebe of Ethiopia to rescue the country’s kidnapped regent from an ancient evil. Cthulhu of course is the famed cosmic entity creation of author H.P. Lovecraft.
Lee’s “Da 5 Bloods” producers Lloyd Levin and Beatriz Levin are also onboard while award-winning visual effects company Goodbye Kansas will lead visual effects.
