Disney has put a warning label on the streaming release of Jim Henson’s iconic late 1970s series “The Muppet Show” which has arrived in full on the Disney+ service.
All five seasons started streaming this Friday and viewers quickly discovered that prior to each viewing, a twelve-second disclaimer warns of “offensive content” ahead. One such scene sees the late Johnny Cash performing in front of a Confederate flag in one episode.
Such content advisory disclaimers are becoming more common on streaming services as it allows said services to keep the content up and avoid backlash of perceived censorship.
Fans have also been having fun with how someone at Disney has had to do the close captioning for the Swedish Chef’s famously tricky dialogue and so now they’re able to understand what he says… mostly.
