Edgar Wright To Helm New “Running Man”

“Hot Fuzz” and “Baby Driver” filmmaker Edgar Wright has made a deal with Paramount Pictures to develop to direct a new film adaptation of Stephen King’s dystopian thriller novel “The Running Man”.

Penned in 1982 under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, the book was loosely adapted for the screen with the 1987 sci-fi film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Wrights version, which Michael Bacall will write based on a story the pair will craft, is expected to be much more faithful to King’s original work. Simon Kinberg, Nira Park and Audrey Chon will produce.

Wright’s “Last Night In Soho” is currently targeting a spring release by Focus Features.
