“Star Wars” and “Chaos Walking” star Daisy Ridley has been set to lead the film adaptation of the hit psychological-thriller novel “The Marsh King’s Daughter” at Black Bear, Anonymous Content and STX.
Ridley plays a seemingly ordinary woman with a dark secret: her father is the infamous ‘Marsh King,’ a man who kept her and her mother captive in the wilderness for years.
After a lifetime of trying to escape her past, she must face her demons when her father unexpectedly escapes from prison.
Neil Burger (“Limitless,” “Divergent”) directs this adaptation of Karen Dionne’s novel, while “The Revenant” screenwriter Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith penned the script.
Filming is slated to get underway this summer in Canada. Teddy Schwarzman, Keith Redmon and Mark L. Smith produce.
