Best known for playing teenager Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” films, 24-year-old actor Tom Holland will show the world he’s ready for roles closer to his actual age.
Next month we’ll see him in “Cherry” playing an opioid addicted, bank robbing, PTSD-suffering ex-veteran. Then, this time next year, he tackles the role of treasure hunter Nathan Drake in the long in the works film adaptation of the “Uncharted” video game series.
Holland is playing a younger version of the Drake we’ve seen in the games, one still finding his feet a bit. Recently speaking with Little Gold Men he described his experience shooting the film:
“I think the easiest way to describe the film without belittling it in any way is like if Indiana Jones and James Bond had had a baby, it would be Nathan Drake.
It was an amazing experience. It was actually much more of a challenge than I thought it would be. It’s a very, very different type of franchise movie to what I’m used to.
Playing Peter Parker kind of feels like playing a version of myself, only a little bit younger, and playing Nathan Drake is playing someone who I am very much not, and obviously older than myself.
But as the process goes, it was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed it. I did some stunts in that film which I am massively proud of.”
Directed by Ruben Fleischer, the project also stars Mark Wahlberg, Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali, and Tati Gabrielle. It is set to arrive in cinemas on February 11th 2022.
