Hasbro Plans Animated Clue Tv Series
Paramount Pictures

Hasbro has begun work on an animated TV series adaptation of its iconic board game “Clue” for the FOX network.

eOne and Bento Box Entertainment will produce this incarnation that aims to “encapsulate the thrilling and suspenseful dynamics that have made Clue a global sensation for more than seven decades.” Bento Box will serve as the animation studio.

The game, also known as “Cluedo” in some markets, sees players untangling various clues to determine who among a party’s six guests – Professor Plum, Colonel Mustard, Miss Scarlett, Mrs. Peacock, Mr. Green and Mrs. White (more recently changed to Dr. Orchid) – killed the host Mr. Boddy, with what lethal weapon they did it, and in which room of the large manor in which the killing was done.

This adaptation is separate from the new film incarnation that actor/comedian Ryan Reynolds is trying to get off the ground. The property was previously adapted into a beloved 1985 comedy classic starring the likes of Christopher Lloyd, Madeline Kahn, Lesley Ann Warren, Michael McKean and Tim Curry.

It has also been adapted for TV before in live-action game show style format in both Australia and the UK in the early 1990s.
