Photos: Joker’s New Look In “Justice League”

A first look at Jared Leto reprising his role of The Joker for “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” has arrived via photos in Vanity Fair.

Leto played the character in David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad” and never was a part of Snyder’s original plan for his 2017 “Justice League” film. However when Snyder was given the opportunity to re-assemble his ‘original vision’ for HBO Max, he shot at least several new scenes with one of them involving Leto’s Joker.

Snyder tells the outlet: “The Joker is really the only thing that I thought of in retrospect. But I will say that it was always my intention to bring Joker into that world.”

Gone are Leto’s face tattoos and slick hairstyle from ‘Squad,’ this version is a darker and more battered creature. He also sports a bulletproof vest with grimy cop badges he’s collected over time as ‘trophies’.

The change is in part due to the context of his appearance. The outlet indicates Joker appears in the new film during a dream sequence set on a ruined Earth after Darkseid invades and decimates the planet.

The psychic vision, experienced by Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne, reveals what will happen if the superheroes fail to stop the onslaught. The scene will reveal how Robin died at Joker’s hand, how Joker burned down Wayne Manor, and the relationship the two characters have.

HBO Max will premiere Snyder’s four-hour recut of “Justice League” on March 18th. A new trailer is due out on Sunday.
