Disney’s Hulu and NBCUniversal’s Peacock have teamed for a rare joint agreement involving long-running ABC comedy series “Modern Family”.
The show’s entire eleven season and 250 episode library will be shared between both services. All the episodes will premiere on both services from February 3rd.
The multiple-year deal marks the first time the entire library of the show will be available on both a subscription and an advertiser-backed service.
Disney and NBCU already have a pre-existing syndication deal which is how USA Network became the syndicated home for
“Modern Family” in 2010.
Had one or the other SVOD service tried to make it exclusive to them alone, the show wouldn’t have been able to come to streaming until 2024 due to syndication rights deals.
