It has been a film franchise and a live-action series, now filmmaker Robert Rodriguez has indicated that an animated series incarnation of “From Dusk till Dawn” is in the works.
The original 1996 film followed a pair of American criminal brothers who take a family as hostages in order to cross into Mexico, but find themselves trapped in a saloon frequented by vampires. George Clooney, Juliette Lewis, Salma Hayek, and Quentin Tarantino starred.
Speaking with SFX Magazine during further “We Can Be Heroes” promotional rounds, Rodriguez reflected on the live-action TV series they did which ran for three seasons and was released internationally as a Netflix original.
He then revealed the new cartoon, telling the outlet: “now we’re looking towards, we’re developing an animated Dusk till Dawn. You’re the first person to hear that!”
He then says the show won’t be a remake of the movie; rather it will follow in the footsteps of the live-action series and further explore the world of Aztec vampires.
No production or release plans for the series have yet been announced.
