After nearly a decade dominated by HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” this year’s list of the most pirated TV series based on torrent downloads has a new champion – “The Mandalorian”.
The Disney+ “Star Wars” spin-off series, the first of around a dozen “Star Wars” projects planned for the service in coming years, took the No. 1 position in 2020 according to analysis from TorrentFreak.
That’s up from being in third place in 2019. The remainder of the Top 5 this year skewed sci-fi and male-dominated with “The Boys,” “Westworld,” “Vikings” and “Star Trek: Picard” taking the top slots.
“Rick and Morty,” “The Flash,” “The Outsider,” “Arrow” and “The Walking Dead” also saw big downloads. The numbers do not account for views via illegal streaming services.
