Chris Pine Up For “Dungeons and Dragons”

Chris Pine is reportedly in negotiations to star in the film adaptation of the popular fantasy role-playing game “Dungeons and Dragons” at Paramount Pictures, Hasbro and eOne.

“Game Night” helmers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley will pen and direct the film based on a draft by Michael Gilio. The story follows a warrior and his band of mystical creatures as they embark on a dangerous journey to find a mythical treasure.

This version has been in the works for years with “Baby Driver’ star Ansel Elgort being considered for the lead role at one point. New Line previously adapted the film in 2000 into what was a commercial bomb starring Justin Whalin, Marlon Wayans, Thora Birch and Jeremy Irons.

Jeremy Latcham and Brian Goldner are producing. The film is currently targeting a May 27th 2022 release.
